Bias Due to Averaging the Logistic and SI Models

چکیده
Modelers have choices in how they approach a problem, with different approaches potentially leading to outcomes. Sometimes one gives consistently lower (or higher) result than another. The theorem and corollaries this study show that if the logistic equation or, equivalently, SI model, are perturbed at time zero by range of values mean zero, resulting trajectories must average value below (for I) or above S) solution initial condition. proof shows phenomenon is algebraic properties nonlinear quadratic term, although we note it can be extended larger class systems. More importantly only necessary criterion perturbations zero. source them their distribution does not matter but affect magnitude proven difference.

Sampling bias and logistic models
In a regression model, the joint distribution for each finite sample of units is determined by a function px.y/ depending only on the list of covariate values xD .x.u1/,. . .,x.un// on the sampled units. No random sampling of units is involved. In biological work, random sampling is frequently unavoidable, in which case the joint distribution p.y,x/ depends on the sampling scheme. Regression mo...

Biased sampling It is worth re-stating the point made in section 3.3, using Meng’s notation in which Oi = 1 indicates that unit i will volunteer if asked. We distinguish between the conditional distribution pn(x,y |o ≡ 1) given that a fixed sample of n individuals happens to have no refusers, and the distribution po=1(x,y) for the first n volunteers. In a random-effects model where the response...

Dynamic logistic regression and dynamic model averaging for binary classification.
We propose an online binary classification procedure for cases when there is uncertainty about the model to use and parameters within a model change over time. We account for model uncertainty through dynamic model averaging, a dynamic extension of Bayesian model averaging in which posterior model probabilities may also change with time. We apply a state-space model to the parameters of each mo...
